{"id":1508,"date":"2017-09-28T02:28:22","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T02:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.karongadiocese.org\/?p=317"},"modified":"2017-09-28T02:28:22","modified_gmt":"2017-09-28T02:28:22","slug":"2017-diocese-lay-movements-annual-conferences-commence-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/index.php\/2017-diocese-lay-movements-annual-conferences-commence-well\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 Diocese Lay Movements\u2019 Annual Conferences Commence Well"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Grego Lusale<\/p>\n<p>Every year lay movements have their annual conferences organized at diocese level in different parish centres through the Lay Apostolate Office of the Diocese.<\/p>\n<p>This year, men dedicated serving the Sacred Heart of Jesus had their conference at St Marys Parish in the Diocese of Karonga.<\/p>\n<p>In their less numbers due to its late establishment, at least 91 men convened for the conference this year. The conference started on Thursday 21<sup>st<\/sup> September to 24<sup>th<\/sup> September, 2017. They had two days of instructions and lessons delivered by different people including priests, Bishop\u2019s Secretariat, \u00a0Caritas Commission officers and their own leaders. Lessons included the importance of developing oneself in church, importance of peace among people both in church and communities at large, bible, My Father\u2019s House and so on.<\/p>\n<p>After intensive learning, 72 members took their vows to become full members of this lay piety group.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other spiritual activities that these men do, \u00a0the men, since 2016 when the bishop gave them special task of helping fostering peace among families and communities, they have been conducting various meetings and visits to communities known for conflict in the Diocese. \u00a0The office of Lay Apostolate would like<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_319\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-319\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-319\" src=\"http:\/\/news.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/sacred1-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-319\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New members making their vows<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>to thank God for this blessing of such a wonderful lay group in the Diocese of Karonga.<\/p>\n<p>Other lay movements are yet to hold their Annual Diocese Conferences. We have Women of Charity gathering at St Ignatius Parish centre and Legion of Mary at St Joseph the Worker Cathedral parish centre both from 28<sup>th<\/sup> September to 1<sup>st<\/sup> October.
