Bishop Martin Anwel Mtumbuka of the Diocese of Karonga says it is his wish that Parishes should be closer to people; where priests can easily reach out to and serve them better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bishop Mtumbuka has said this on Wednesday\n16, October at Nyungwe where he held consultative meeting with the church\nleaders, from Ngala and Wovwe zones under St. Anne\u2019s Parish, on the proper site\nfor constructing a new parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bishop further says it is good for\npriests to know the families they are serving right from their homes to\nappreciate their living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further encourages church leaders\nto keep on taking care of priests by among other things providing them with\nfood, proper to a self-reliant and self-propagating church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to make this happen a\ncommittee of seven comprising of leaders from both zones has been established\nto work on the issue of land where the parish will be located. The Bishop\nsuggests that the place should not be far from Nyungwe because it is centrally\nlocated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be the second parish to come\nout of St Anne\u2019s after the establishment of St Francis De Sales (Livingstonia)\nParish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngara and Wovwe zones have a combined\npopulation of about 10,042 christans and a total of 32 prayer centers. At the moment,\nSt Anne\u2019s parish has a total of 51 prayer centers and stretches from Ndembwera\nto Sangilo and from Zgewa to Chisumbu in Karonga District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
