The activity targeted community structures especially School Management Committees (SMCs), Parents and Teachers Associations (PTAs) and Mother Groups (MGs) from 116 primary schools across Chitipa and Karonga districts.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Education Desk Officer, Mr. Remmie Kamanga, the aim of the training is to mobilise the communities to take a leading role in helping children develop reading skills.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_862\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-862\" style=\"width: 758px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-862\" src=\"http:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Picture of One of the groups that took part in the orientation exercise\" width=\"758\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.karongadiocese.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Orientation.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 758px) 100vw, 758px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-862\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the groups that took part in the orientation exercise<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr. Kamanga said according to the statistics many Malawian learners in the first four classes are unable to read and those who read are not fluent in the same.
