By Noel Chatepa
From 19th to 20th October 2026, Teresa Camacho, the International Project Officer for Cross Catholic Outreach, visited the Diocese of Karonga to tour project sites where the Diocese is implementing the Holistic Development Programme with funding from the United States based organization.

During the visit, Teresa toured Ngana Community in Karonga, St. Teresa Health Centre in Chitipa, and Jalawe in Rumphi. There, she saw firsthand the interventions in Education, Agriculture, Health, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and learned about the challenges the communities currently face.

In her remarks to the project team after the tour, Teresa said she was impressed by the Diocese’s work and commended the communities for their commitment to the projects.

“I am greatly encouraged by what I have seen over these two days. The Diocese is doing excellent work, and the communities themselves have also performed well and are models for other communities where we are implementing the same projects,” she said.
The Holistic Development Programme is being implemented in Chiwanga (Kameme, Chitipa), Kopakopa (Nthalire, Chitipa), and Ngana (Karonga). Its interventions cover Agriculture, Education, Nutrition, Health, Economic Empowerment, Spiritual Evangelization, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
